  1. It’s an excellent example of a one-sided mockumentary.
And “Darwin led to Hitler” is despicable.

  2. We must have read very different literature on this, because it’s pretty hard to deny the influence of Charles Darwin’s theory on eugenics, and Hitler in particular. You may find my article “Christianity caused the Holocaust?” of interest, sir.

This claim is is both technically true and deeply misleading. Conversely, it would also be “pretty hard to deny” the influence of white supremacists on the Republican party, but stating that alone as if this tells us much about the party today, or even what the party mainly stood for, is a dishonest smear by implication.

Christianity played a big role in the Holocaust, contrary to denials. But do Christians and Christianity deserve to be smeared with the Holocaust? No. Whatever the Nazis had was warped: they made all sorts of different arguments to justify their views. No single one was necessary.

And, by the way, in Mein Kampf, Hitler not only references Christian-justified antisemitism many times, but he even seems to reveal himself to be a young earth creationist.

  4. Oh, I agree with your first paragraph whole-heartedly…

And yes, LIBERAL Christianity DID play a role in the Holocaust – you will note that the German Church that supported Hitler was largely revisionist theologically – those who were the ‘Bible believers’, like Bonhoeffer, had to go underground.

And we should also know that Mein Kampf was a political document – the fact that Hitler’s personal writings (diaries and such) show a deep disdain for Christianity, and an affinity for ancient German paganism, displays his true colors – most any reference to Christianity was likely merely a political move, to gain favor with a church who had lost ‘Christ’ as it’s center, and was looking for something to lead them, just as the rest of Germany was.
